California has a state park to suit any taste in nature.
Campo San Diego is home to the start of The Pacific Crest Trail, an extreme hiking trail which begins at the border of Mexico and winds it’s way continuously up through National Parks in California, Oregon and Washington to end at the Canadian border. Also in San Diego, Torrey Pines State Reserve is one of only two native stands of torrey pines left in North America. A tribute to the elegant pines and sandstone cliffs, it boosts fantastic views and timeless, prehistoric beauty. Orange County is home to Laguna Beach’s Morro Bay and the coastal views offered by The Pacific Coast Highway. Come watch the grunion run at Bolsa Chica State Beach in the summertime.
Mid-State The Sierra Nevada mountains gave rise to the gold rush in the late 1840’s, and almost as old, Yosemite National Park is a favorite scenic outdoor destination set aside to be protected in the 1890’s. Death Valley, at 282 feet below sea level is the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere and home to more than 3.3 million acres of scenic desert. While Joshua Tree National Park facilitates the coming together of the high Colorado and low Mojave desert with amazing geologic displays and a grand clash of climates.
Northern California boosts the Humboldt and Armstrong Redwoods, known and revered for their ancient loft and girth. The crisp beauty of Lake Tahoe is a haven for those who enjoy winter sports, also ideal for infinitely beautiful hiking and camping in summer months.
